Knowledge and Understanding

At Woodlands, we aim for a high quality geography curriculum which inspires a curiosity in pupils about the world and the people and cultures within it. We will teach children about places and people, resources in the environment, physical and human processes and how landscapes are formed and used.

We want children to enjoy and love learning about geography both in and out of the classroom through the use of fieldwork and educational visits.

Within our two year rolling curriculum programme we implement a curriculum that is progressive in development of geographic skills:

Location and place knowledge

Use of basic geographical vocabulary

Using globes

Map work skills

Human Geography,  enquiry skills and communication
